2022 Review Series | The Wild Series by K.A. Tucker

The Wild Series by K.A. Tucker is one I’m still thinking about nearly a year later (and considering rereading).

I believe I saw these books recommended on TikTok or Instagram, but the premise sounded great. After finishing the three novels and one novella, I hope a fourth novel will come out. I check K.A. Tucker’s Instagram occasionally to see if the possibility may become reality. No luck yet, unfortunately.

Goodreads Review – The Simple Wild – Four Stars

This was my first novel by K.A. Tucker and was a recommendation I saw from another reader.

The book took a few days to get into, but I read the last half in a day or so. The plot and setting were different from the books I normally read.

The main plot follows Calla as she visits Alaska for the first time since birth. She lived in Toronto with her mom and step-father while her dad was in Alaska, owning a small airline business primarily for getting supplies to villages and tourism.

Calla is nervous about visiting Alaska after she receives a call that her dad has cancer. The plot follows the rebuilding of their relationship.

She goes from being an insanely unlikable character to having grown so much in a couple of months. The story also follows her enemies-to-lovers relationship with Jonah. It’s the ultimate juxtaposition of city and rural life mixed with two different personalities. It was funny to read their banter throughout the story.

Goodreads Review – Wild at Heart – Four Stars

Calla is way less annoying than in the first novel. She seems to have grown up quite a bit in the six months to a year that spans the story. She starts to get her feet wet when it comes to adjusting to Alaskan life and the small community she lives in.

The book has some serious Gilmore Girl vibes to it, which makes it the perfect Fall read if you ask me

Overall, I’m rating four stars. I loved reading about the interactions the small community had, the grumpy neighbors who turned family, and how Calla’s uprooted life began to turn into something she never imagined.

It’s fun and a twist from all the books I’ve read set in big cities.

Thoughts – Forever Wild (Novella) – Four Stars

Thoughts:

I never wrote a review for this novella, but it’s 158 pages long and gives us more of a longer epilogue and closure for Jonah and Calla’s story. It wrapped up their story perfectly, and I can’t say much without giving spoilers away!

It was around this point, as I was reading that it occurred to me that book four wouldn’t be about Jonah and Calla anymore as it transitioned to focus on one of the background characters from the first 2.5 books (who thought she would end up with Jonah) but gets her own happily ever after.

Goodreads Review – Running Wild – Five Stars

I’m so glad I gave this story a chance. It follows a secondary character from the previous two stories and novella, Marie. She wasn’t my favorite character in those stories, but Running Wild completely made up for it. In fact, I think she became my favorite out of the entire storyline. If K.A. Tucker decides to give her a sequel, I’ll be the first in line to read it.

The story follows Marie, who is well-known for being an expert veterinarian in Alaska. She always puts the animals first and rarely does anything for herself. She’s still getting over the loss that her best friend was never interested in her when an obnoxious new guy moves in, and they get off on the wrong foot.

The story is the back and forth of a will-they-won’t-they-get-together romance. She’s ready to find someone who will love her, and he’s still figuring out how to move on two years after his wife passed away.

I’m rating five stars because I stretched out how long it took to read. I didn’t want it to end, and now that the series is over, I’m a tad sad. So if you’ve read this series and have other suggestions, send them my way!

Final Thoughts

Overall, this series is one of those gems that few people talk about, and you read them and don’t understand why that’s the case. I don’t typically read full RomCom series, but this one changed my mind about it. Have you read this series, or would you want to? I 100% recommend it!
